This one was taken on Alki Beach in Seattle. I was just goofing around trying to take some portraits when I heard the birds take off from the water. Not thinking, I just turned and pressed the shutter. I didnt expect the exposure to be good nor the focus! I was surprised to see this shot. I dont normally go for animal photos but I like the mono feel of this shot and the natural vignette of the DX lens on FX.
My 52 week project is kind of failing, I am not able to post a new self portrait every week, its just not easy for me. But, I am making sure I post new shots every week and will create when I can.
This Sunday I have a model shoot, so who knows, maybe something nice to post from that.

Well done on the publishing, do you have a link? I would love to see the shots. Not much going on my end, I have started a 52 wk project to force myself to shoot more regularly and am trying out 35mm film for a while too. I am feeling more confident to just shoot whatever catches my eye. I look fwd to seeing your simple portraits, I have done a few like that on black bkgrounds, its really fun!

A late posting on my project as I am still away. This was taken in Chicago.
Olympus OM1n, Zuiko 50mm, Portra 400
I have had a run on 35mm with 4 rolls processed and 3 more when I get home. I have also bought a Nikon F5 35mm camera. I just lusted after one, that’s my reasoning. I figure I just lover shooting film and shooting 35mm will be a good economical way of doing it. Also shot with my 1st roll of Ektar 100, will see how it compares to Portra, Although I have taken my D200 with me, it has not left the bag!

Ha ha, it seems I have a penchant for left to right heads and glasses! Thought I would give the Portra 160 a go instead of my usual 400. Does it look a little slicker?? Hard to tell but ideal for artificial light.
